V. Parbst & Søn … since 1889…

”No Parbst, no company” is probably the only thing that has remained unchanged. Under these more than 125 years of changing company activities, it has always geared to the ability and desire of each generation.

V. Parbst & Søn founded on the 30th of September in 1889 by Victor Parbst. He started as an agent for foreign companies that were producing drapery, hereafter becoming possibly Denmark’s first agent for bicycle parts, as soon as the first bicycles came to Denmark. Five years prior to his death, his youngest son Knud Parbst became Victor’s partner in the company.

World War II interrupted the business. Blockades, then bombing of industries and later severe restrictions on currency and foreign trade reduced the company, so when Knud’s son Ove Parbst became a partner, a small rented office with a part time secretary, was all that was left of it.

Ove was a great fan of his grandfather and had inherited his wit and talent for business. He was, for example, successful in importing large quantities of cuckoo clocks. Ove had talent for production, but when he passed his company to his son François Parbst, François had to re-model it to his liking and made it to an agency business.

So consequently the clock factory was closed and François discovered that he enjoyed the agent work. With the company as base, he had the opportunity to deal with other industries, such as real estate, arms and ammunition, while the agency company made good business with heavy industry, for example, representation of the Winchester Industrial Products. Corporation with Winchester started early ’70s and has now become the main area of business. V. Parbst & Søn is the only representative of Winchester Industrial Products in Europe with more than 40 years of experience and more than 250 operating guns around the Europe. The product portfolio includes Winchester Ringblaster Mark IV Industrial gun and mount, Winchester Western Boiler Gun, 8 gauge ammunition and Winchester Powder Actuated Tool ammunition.

François’ son Michael has taken over the management of the company – he is the fifth generation. Together with other family members and loyal employees the daily routines and customer service is take care of.

V. Parbst & Søn has always stayed a family company and hopefully there are a lot of years to come for the family business. Regardless the business areas they are choosing, there is one thing that definitely will remain – the service.
